The mission of the Sarah Vande Berg Tennis Foundation is to provide tennis and education in underserved communities of Zephyrhills West Central Florida Region through character-building, leadership training and academic mentoring.
The SVB Tennis Foundation was launched in 2018 in honor of Sarah Vande Berg. Sarah grew up in Zephyrhills playing tennis, became High School team captain, and went on to play at USC Upstate. Sarah died tragically in a car accident on October 11, 2015. The SVB Tennis Foundation was created to honor her legacy, spread her love of the game and competitive spirit, and offer young people the opportunity to excel on and off the court. Sarah’s family began offering scholarships to ZHS graduating seniors in 2017. We continue to honor this tradition as well as many other opportunities for the young people of Zephyrhills and Pasco County.
Partnership with the SVB Tennis and Wellbeing Center
The foundation will have a partnership with Zephyrhills’ new tennis center, the SVB Tennis and Wellness center. On 8.25 acres of property off of Simons Road, the center opened to the public on September 21, 2020. The center features 11 tennis courts, 8 pickleball courts, and 4 padel courts among other amenities. The Zephyrhills City Council unanimously approved naming the center after Sarah Vande Berg.
The Sarah Vande Berg Tennis and Wellness Center will offer a wide range of athletic endeavors, with an emphasis on community tennis, child development, recreational play, and competitive matches. The center will be a strategic partner with the foundation and help us achieve our mission on a wider and deeper scale.
